At Merit Tutors, we understand the importance A Level exam results play when it comes to university applications. We aim to challenge our pupils to ensure they are confident and prepared to achieve their potential in their exams. A Level content can be difficult to understand, therefore our tutors take the time to understand each child’s needs, adapting their teaching styles and strategies to ensure our students get the most out of their lessons.
Our A Level Psychology revision course is designed for Year 12 and Year 13 pupils preparing for A Level Psychology exam.
Our revision courses are made up of an intimate study group, normally with 4-6 students from the same year group. Our A Level groups consist of AS and A2 learners, allowing the AS students to learn advanced techniques early and be ahead of their peers, while simultaneously allowing our A2 pupils to significantly improve their knowledge and technique for their exams. We cover a range of Psychology topics from the list below, with the focus mainly on topics identified by our students. This means the content covered on each course will differ depending on our students’ preferences.

We take into consideration a wide range of exam boards when creating our A Level revision courses, including AQA, OCR and EdExcel. The course is designed to fit the needs of our students, following a logical sequence of learning and balancing tuition between content, skills and exam practice.
At Merit Tutors, our tutors have extensive experience preparing children of all abilities for their exams. Run by qualified teachers, we have an excellent understanding of what examiners are looking for in papers. Chosen for their enthusiasm and empathy, they additionally have in-depth knowledge of the whole subject area.
We use a variety of revision techniques to ensure our pupils get the most out of the course as possible. We strive to use a mixture of tutor-led and pupil-led activities to suit any learner. Other techniques we use include:

  • Past papers: past papers are known to be highly effective when it comes to learning the sciences, so we regularly use past paper questions so pupils can practice applying their knowledge in past exam questions. The first expected pass mark with Merit Tutors is 80% after which pupils can retake the test with an expected pass mark of 90%.
  • Mock tests: Each tutor will occasionally conduct mock tests which mimic examination conditions. We do these so pupils can practice ‘the real thing’, so pupils and tutors can obtain a sense of where progress has been made and where there are knowledge gaps.
  • Teachers Notes: Online records are available to parents and carers of each pupil so you can see the progress of your child.
  • Paper feedback: We provide written feedback to learners for their own use at home to further their learning and solidify what they have learnt in their tutor group.
