I have been tutoring since 2020 and my passion for helping students learn has only grown since then! I teach Sciences from KS1 through to A-Level. I also teach English and Maths from KS1 to GCSE standard.

Having recently completed my A-levels, I understand the position that students are in and believe every student of mine has the ability to get through it. I am a seceond year medical student studying at the University of Cambridge, and achieved 4 A*s at A-Level. I am confident in delivering lessons online using Zoom and Google Docs. Through virtual learning, I wish to impart the knowledge and revision techniques that have helped me throughout my education.
I ensure each tutoring session is
well-structured so that our time is used productively. If a student finds a
topic challenging, I am flexible with timings and learning objectives. This is
because my ultimate goal is to help students understand the topics that they
struggle with whilst making learning enjoyable. I plan lessons in response to
students' requests, using feedback from the previous week to set learning
objectives for each session. I create worksheets to aid learning and can reword
explanations using examples and stories where necessary, to meet the needs of
my students. Finally, I know the importance of establishing goals in order to
achieve the most out of tutoring.
I have experience in tutoring younger
children, having prepared a KS2 student for admissions tests. I therefore know
how to adapt my sessions to maintain the focus and understanding of young
students, e.g. by incorporating breaks and making learning relevant and fun. I
have also worked with KS3 students as a Maths Classroom Assistant; in this
role, I digested information quickly to approach questions which I had not seen
before. As well as following lessons plans, I can also think on my feet to help
students with any difficult school work they bring home. For older or GCSE
students, I set assessments which we complete and mark during the lesson. As
with all students, I regularly check progress against the goals the student
outlined at the beginning of the year.
The
texts I have previously taught for GCSE English are: Jekyll and Hyde, Pride and
Prejudice, An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice and Love and
Relationships Anthology. I am more than happy to learn other texts in order to
teach your child. In English sessions, I guide the student through the analysis
of language, form and structure whilst providing nuanced contextual points for
each text.
